The CFO Classics Library Camp Map

An interactive map of our CFO Library recordings.

Since 1930, when Glenn Clark gathered about eighty campers at Lake Koronis, Minnesota, campers have come together at Camps Farthest Out across the United States and Canada. This Camps Farthest Out map places more than 5,600 recorded messages at the camps where they were given, from 1949 to 2020.

Choose a camp to see its sites and every message by year. Pick a year on the timeline to see where campers gathered that year, or search for a speaker to see every camp where they spoke.

Note: This is not a map of all CFO camps, just the ones we have recordings for in the library

What the Map Covers

The map holds every recorded message in the Library from camps in the United States and Canada, including the International gatherings held in the United States. Venues come from the published CFO camp histories of 1980 and 2005 and from the recordings themselves. Messages given at a CFO camp that is not known are listed by speaker under Unknown Camp. Messages from camps overseas are not on the map but remain in the Library.

Questions About Camps Farthest Out

What is Camps Farthest Out?

Camps Farthest Out (CFO) is a Christian camp ministry founded in 1930 by Glenn Clark, a teacher and coach at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. About eighty campers came to the first camp, at Lake Koronis in Minnesota. Campers spend several days together in prayer, worship and teaching.

Where did CFO campers gather?

Across the United States and Canada, often at colleges, church assembly grounds and lakeside conference centers. The camps with the most recordings in the Library are Minnesota Koronis at Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds in Paynesville, Iowa at Riverview Park in Cedar Falls, Nebraska at several colleges including Hastings, Doane and Dana, Florida Family at Lake Yale in Eustis, and New Hampshire Winni at Geneva Point Camp in Center Harbor.

Who spoke at CFO camps?

More than 460 speakers are heard in the recordings. Among those heard most often are Tommy Tyson, Norman Elliott, Starr Daily, Ruth Robison and Evelyn Carter Spencer, along with Glenn Clark, Agnes Sanford and Frank Laubach.

How many recorded messages are on the map?

More than 6,500 messages. Over 5,600 come from 90 known camps, recorded between 1949 and 2020, and nearly 900 more come from CFO camps that are not known. Most date from the 1960s through the 1990s.

Can I listen to the messages?

Yes. Each message title on the map opens its page in the Library, where you can listen to the recording.

Why are some names not links yet?

New messages are added to the Library every day. A message, speaker, camp or series shows in plain text until its first message goes live, and becomes a link on its own that day.

Why is a camp or message I know not on the map?

The map covers camps in the United States and Canada. Messages from camps overseas stay in the Library but are not on the map. Messages given at a CFO camp that is not known are listed by speaker under Unknown Camp, and a few gatherings with no recorded place appear under Not on the map instead of as a point.
