At the Montana CFO in 1960, Roland Brown tells of an English schoolteacher who spent years turning his own life inside out. The man came back each year to report on his tiny chapel: a rebuilt floor, a new wing, seven young people entering the ministry. He always greeted Roland Brown with “the third chapter is more wonderful.”
Roland Brown describes for the Montana CFO in 1960 one night of itemized confession: an impatient word to his wife, a flash of temper with his small son. The words “cleanse us from all unrighteousness” walked him through it until all he could say was “I guess you win, Lord.” He calls it the turning point.
Roland Brown pairs troubled emotions with their scriptural cures: perfect love casting out fear, gratitude dissolving anxiety. He also describes weighing whether to press on into a country gripped by riots, watching for what he calls a red light from God. He gave the talk to the Montana CFO in 1960.
