A meditation before communion on Christ’s identification with us in death and ours with him in resurrection. At the Ohio CFO in 1980, Tommy Tyson recalls a woman stung by the phrase “pride of the flesh” until she saw that it named her shame at her own ancestry, and his own walk down a beach at dawn after a new name was given him.
Speaking at the Ohio CFO in 1980, Bill Reed sets the technical triumphs of modern medicine against a society no healthier or more hopeful for having them. Ephraim McDowell prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit before attempting the first operation of its kind, and Reed went looking for that prayer and found it preserved in Edinburgh.
Spiritual birth is a long gestation, Bill Reed tells the 1980 Ohio CFO, his own running from a Baptist meeting at the age of six to his middle thirties, and he asks the camp to fan the spark wherever it lands on the young. He reads from Masefield’s poem about a widow whose son is hanged, and remembers a neighbor who carved violins out of plain blocks of wood.

Bill Reed marks twenty-one years since his infilling in Philadelphia and remembers the Michigan prayer groups that followed, including the night the Spirit fell at the Kalamazoo camp and frightened the crowd. He urges the fathers of the 1980 Ohio CFO to lead their own children to Christ rather than leave it to somebody else, and tells of a patient who met Jesus under anesthesia and would not stop singing.

Bill Reed compares a human spirit left unexercised to an arm that has spent six months in a cast, and presses the campers to ask daily that their spirit be freed from the grip of the mind. Frankl on what makes us human, and Cranmer wanting every plowboy to read the Bible for himself, both come in. The talk closed out the Ohio CFO in 1980.

Ordered off the road for six months by her doctor, Evelyn Carter Spencer spent weeks propped in a V on ten pillows, and had a fit of glory over being able to wash her own back again. This comes from the 1980 Ohio CFO. Out of that she teaches that believers are born into victory and then have to work it out where they actually are.
Bill Reed works from Philippians 4 on freedom from anxiety and on the value of praying in the Spirit. He takes his opening from a sundial he found set in a Pasadena flower bed, in this talk to the 1980 Ohio CFO.

Writing her own story, Evelyn Carter Spencer realized she had been tolerated rather than loved; she was also told plainly to turn a daughter loose. Ephesians 3 becomes her case that security is rooted in being loved by God rather than approved of by anyone else. Recorded at the 1980 Ohio CFO.
