Opening the week at the Oklahoma Tonkawa CFO in 1961, Reg Goff speaks of a God who has never stopped working, silently and beyond measure, and asks the retreat to stop straining to make God work and start letting him.
Given at the 1961 Oklahoma Tonkawa CFO. Genevieve Parkhurst opens a session at the camps with Psalm 116’s question, “what shall I render unto the Lord.” She counts blessings from sight to home to family, and tells of her father, who sold land at a loss rather than break his word. She closes by urging campers to give thanks for the health they already have as a healing practice.
From the Genesis account of light breaking over darkness, “let there be light,” Genevieve Parkhurst teaches that a trial is a seedbed that must be blessed rather than cursed to bear fruit. This comes from the 1961 Oklahoma Tonkawa CFO. She leads campers in visualizing light spreading through a congregation in conflict. She urges them to take that practice back to their home churches.
Gertrude Dekock Keehn argues that Bible stories bear fruit only when the Spirit of truth opens their inward meaning, and the hearer lives it out. She recalls a vision in which she was told to plunge into the outstretched arms of Christ, and Miss Flower, who saved her funeral money and gave away her roses. From the Oklahoma Tonkawa CFO in 1961.
