A factory sign reading “No Accidents Today” sets Ruth Robison off on what she calls the larger prayer, the prayer of someone so coordinated with God that nothing is wasted. On a hot evening she gives its requirements to the Iowa CFO in 1964, among them being genuinely present before God, taking distractions “as divine interventions,” and asking the Holy Spirit for the will to obey the first thought that comes.
