At the 1959 California CFO, Genevieve Parkhurst tells of a mother who slapped her disrespectful son. The mother then realized she had really struck out at a brother she was never allowed to hit forty years earlier. Parkhurst gives the illustration to show how old, unforgiven hurts erupt onto those nearest us.
