“Tonight my subject is thank God for failure,” Starr Daily tells the Nebraska CFO in 1962. He builds it on Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed “not my will in this be done, but thine,” and on Paul’s thorn in the flesh, which God refused three times to remove. His own father prayed through “25 black, bleak, and dreary years” for a son who was in the underworld. That long refusal is counted here as part of the answer.
